this is the single greatest line of dialogue that has ever or will ever exist im so glad the big bang happened and life progressed to the exact line of circumstances that allowed this to happen
afterall, feeling understood is the greatest form of love.
Also whenever I see a non native English speaker apologize for their English I always will always always be in awe how far they’ve gone in learning English
Stuff like “broken” English is so dumb, I think it’s very cool seeing how words are ordered Around the world is very cool and not something to call broken or wrong
English is an SVO language meaning it’s Subject-Verb-Object!!, It’s not particularly rare, and is the second most common word order!
A sentence In English would be like “He Parks the Car”
The most Common word order is Subject Object Verb!!
So in an SOV language it would sound almost like
“His car, he parked”
So when stuff sounds out of order it’s probably because one’s original language must have ordered words differently, and it’s very cool how the process of learning language kind of gets you in the mindset of how to think differently too!
My indigenous language of mixtec (Tu'un N'davi) is a VSO language, or Verb-Subject-Object!
So in it “I will speak to you tomorrow”
Is “kahh Tdeo Taa”
Or “speak to you I will tomorrow”
I colored coded verbs objects and subject to show you how cool it is how words change and flow in different languages, I personally am a huge fan
Hear hear! There are a lot of things to consider when someone is learning a new language.
Some languages also do this thing where it doesn’t matter what order you put the words, because they get marked in said language. Meaning that unlike languages where it matters where you put the subject, verb or object, you can put it in the order you want. You already know already what is marked.
Puellam lupa vident
Lupa puellam vident
This is latin. Both sentences mean the same thing, namely: Two she-wolves see the girl.
Because of the marking of am, the feminine form of singular acusative, we know that the girl is the object of the sentence. Vident is two-form to see, the verb, meaning that it is two she wolves who see, hence subject.
We call them case-systems, and it is very confusing to go from one to the other, and thus sound more «broken» when you write or speak. Latin is far from the only language that does this, many slavic languages for an example use case systems. So does Finnish, German and Icelandic just to name a few.
So if you see someone write or speak «incorrectly,», don’t be an ass, and understand that people have their own challenges when speaking or writing languages that are not their own.
big fan of characters with abandonment + attachment issues so profound that they leave claw marks in everything they touch but would sooner gnaw off their own leg than admit they just want someone to stay for once. in a totally normal well adjusted and not at all projecting way of course.
does anybody else remember that reality show where they gaslit a bunch of americans into thinking they were competing to marry prince harry but it was really just some guy
when your cooler mutuals reblog your posts like yes i am getting a good grade in friend, which is both normal to want and possible to achieve
just got back from therapy and i think wanting respect & acknowledgement from your respected peers might be normal in an unironic sense
i hope im not only a mutual to u but also someone u can refer to in conversation as ur friend from overseas so u appear worldly and well-traveled
idk who needs to hear this rn but suffering is not noble. take the tylenol
One time when I was younger I was refusing to take headache medicine and my mom said “the person who invented that medicine is probably so sad you won’t let them help you” and now every time I find myself denying medicine I just imagine the saddest scientist making those big wet eyes like “why won’t you let me help” and whoop then I take the medicine
i think one of the most important things you learn about making connections with others is that a significant portion of the time people just do not know theyre doing what theyre doing
sometimes someone is acting selfish because they just didnt think you had any interest in what theyre hogging. sometimes you dont get invited to the movies because your friend could have sworn that you said no. sometimes you think someone is mad at you because theyre bad at hiding how little sleep they got. we are all like little worlds that briefly crash into one another from time to time and we just arent physically capable of seeing the whole picture at once in those moments. and learning that really changed everything!

Did you ever just feel so lucky for knowing someone you met online? Like.. I was one click away from not following you. I was one second away from never even knowing of your existence.I would never have been this happy!!!…

tumblr is the best social network because (if you’re using it right) it actually connects you to people with very similar brains, which ime is vanishingly rare in the meatspace. it’s mediated strongly by text (rather than images or music or irl friend groups or whatever) which encourages both the highly confessional culture (your face isn’t attached to it and your coworkers won’t see it) and the ability to find some weird ass community with your exact interests and/or analysis style, who might also be more likely to understand whatever brain problems you want to vent about. I think this is distinct from an echo chamber because it doesn’t necessarily mean you have the same beliefs at all, just that you use the same style of reasoning to defend those beliefs. that makes it weirdly validating and comforting in a way that’s very hard to find irl.
reblog to give the person you reblogged from the strength to complete The Task™
something i really enjoy in horror movies is when the victim(s) start to hunt the killer in return in order to kill them first, both because it’s an interesting parallel that (if done well) asks the audience to consider the question of when violence and killing are a justifiable means to an end in order to survive and at what point it crosses the line from acceptable to abhorrent and condemns the perpetrator, and also because it’s a little bit funny. like i can do that too bitch you’re not special.
you ever know someone and you think “god i love you. i wish we could’ve known eachother when we were carefree and 11. i wish we could’ve played together as kids”
